To stop a Konica Minolta bizhub 454 or 554 from automatically switching or selecting paper drawers, press the physical Utility/Counter key on the control panel. On the touch screen, navigate to User Settings -> System Settings -> Paper Tray Settings -> Auto Tray Selection Settings.
Uncheck or deselect the specific paper trays you want to isolate from the automatic pool (such as trays reserved for special media). Next, look for the Auto Tray Switch ON/OFF option in the same menu and set it to [OFF] or [Restrict]. This forces the copier to halt and request user intervention when a tray runs out of paper, rather than pulling sheets from another drawer. Tap OK to lock in your settings.
